Moisturizer

A moisturizer is the essential final step that locks in hydration and seals all the goodness from your previous steps into your skin. It acts as a protective, comforting blanket for your complexion, reinforcing its natural barrier and defending it against the outside world. Regardless of your skin type, a moisturizer is absolutely vital for balanced, healthy skin.

Moisturizers typically work in two ways: some contain “humectants” like hyaluronic acid, which draw moisture from the air into the skin, while others use “occlusives” like shea butter, which create a physical barrier on the surface to prevent that moisture from evaporating. A great moisturizer will often contain a blend of both to hydrate and protect.

Choosing the right texture is key to loving your moisturizer. Oily skin types benefit from lightweight gels or oil-free lotions, normal and combination skin do well with classic lotions, and dry skin craves richer, nourishing creams. For an extra hydration boost, always apply your moisturizer to slightly damp skin to trap in that moisture.
